Samsung is ready to expand its Galaxy One UI 8 beta (based on Android 16) to more phones after initially kicking things off with the Galaxy S25 back in May. After a rather slow rollout of One UI 7 last year, things are moving quickly to Android 16, and more phones like the Galaxy S24 series will get it next.

Only the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 have the official One UI 8 update, while the Galaxy S25 series is currently enjoying the 4th and final beta. Now, it looks like Samsung's ready to give its massive update to millions of potential users.

Today, Samsung officially announced that the One UI 8 beta program is expanding to the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. More importantly, the company is already teasing that the same upgrade for even older phones could arrive sooner rather than later.

Next week, starting August 11th, Samsung will open the Android 16 (One UI 8) beta program for the entire Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6. The beta is only available in select regions, at least for now, starting with India, Korea, the U.K., and those in the United States.

Like with previous Samsung Galaxy beta programs, you'll need to sign up for the beta through the official Samsung Members app and wait for the over-the-air upgrade to arrive. It's worth noting that Samsung typically only allows a select number of beta testers, so you had better act fast.

The update to One UI 8 brings many changes, enhancements, and new features. As a reminder, the broader official release of One UI 8 isn't expected until sometime in September, and that'll vary by device as well. That said, we anticipate many of Samsung's premium phones from the last few years getting it within the next few months.

The One UI 8 Beta Will Continue Later This Month

While last year's flagship Galaxy S24 will receive Android 16 next week, other phones are about to get a taste of Samsung's latest features and AI goodies.

Once the Galaxy S24 beta kicks off, Samsung plans to keep things moving quickly. By the end of August, the company will expand its One UI 8 beta program to many more devices, including the entire Galaxy S23 series, the older Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the Z Flip 5, not to mention budget models. Samsung only mentioned the Galaxy A36 5G, A55, A35, and the Galaxy A54, but we feel that list will grow in the coming weeks.

Finally, Samsung announced that the official stable update to One UI 8 and Android 16 will be available on more devices starting in September, essentially confirming the global release date. Stay tuned for more details, and watch the Samsung Members app for the open beta starting next week.
